WINE & BEER CLASSES

Monday, October 29, 2007

November through December:

Thursday, November 1st - Wines Off the Beaten Path
It’s time to explore some of the lesser known grape varieties grown in the less-than-famous wine regions. Ever tasted a wine made from torrontés, picpoul or mencía? There are lots of tasty wines out there that you’ve never heard of! We’ll serve some light snacks alongside.

Thursday, November 15th - Wine & Food Component Tasting
The component tasting is the most original wine & food class you’ll find. We’ll sample bites of simple food and sips of wine to explore the hits and misses of wine and food pairing. It’s a great way to learn about wine and the taste sensations created when it interacts with food on the palate. There will be plenty of food in this class so don’t eat beforehand.

Thursday, November 29th - The Great Beers of Europe
In tonight’s class we’ll sample some of the great beers from Europe (except Belgium) including England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy. The class will be led by Louis Glunz Beer’s resident beer expert Anthony Norkus. The lineup will demonstrate the amazing range of classic beer styles from the countries that defined them. We will serve beer appropriate snacks.

Tuesday, December 4th - Wine & Appetizer Party
Wine Director Tracy Liang and Cooking School Director Diane Juergens will team up to present an evening of fantastic wines and appetizers. Just in time for the holidays, we’ll sample wines and lots of different hors d’oeuvres to give you ideas for your own holiday entertaining. It’s our time to shine and show the best of what Treasure Island has to offer. This casual, cocktail party is the most fun you’ve ever had in a grocery store!
